On August 29, Houthi fighters captured several positions around the al-Tul border crossing south of the Saudi province of Jizan following heavy clashes with the Saudi-led coalition and its Yemeni proxies, according to the Yemeni al-Masirah TV.
During the clashes, the Houthis killed many Saudi-backed Yemeni fighters. Several Upgraded M113 armored personnel carrier (APCs) of the Saudi military were also destroyed with Rocket-propelled grenades.
Al-Masirah said that Saudi-led coalition warplanes conducted 15 airstrikes on Houthi fighters in an attempt to stop the attack on al-Tul. However, the airstrikes were not effective.
In August, the Houthis stepped up their military operations on the border with Saudi Arabia in what appears to be an attempt to draw resources of the Saudi-led coalition from its large-scale attack on the coastal Yemeni city of al-Hudaydah.

The US-led coalition’s strategy to keep an ISIS safe haven in Syria’s Euhprates Valley in order to justify its military presence in the war-torn country has appeared to have some “unexpected” consequences. ISIS units operating in the Hajin pocket have re-groupped, received fresh supples and kicked off a large-scale advance on positions of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
